Bonhams Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern & South Asian Art auction will be held on October 12, 2009 starting at 7 PM at the One and Only Royale Mirage in Dubai.

Two paintings by Paul Guiragossian will be auctioned at this sale.

Lot # 23 is a very interesting untitled painting from the 60’s. Oil on canvas, 66 x 60 cm, with 2 figures and a bird resting on one of the figures arm. The provenance of the painting comes from a private collection from the USA.

Lot # 28 Entitled “Le Retour” (1985), oil on canvas, 100 x 70 cm. This painting comes directly from the Guiragossian family collection and is a classic example of the artist's later work and as the title suggest “The Return” it’s portraying the reunion of families or relatives once perhaps forced to come apart by the cause of war. Guiragossian always considered himself the painter of the people and his subjects always revolved around the daily life surrounding him.
